Acu-pressure points for wellness"The art of healing occurs when the body is balanced, the mind is peaceful, and the spirit harmonized."Acu -pressure is a form of bodywork based on activating energy pathways of the body. The heart of this movement is resourcing from within our bodies our own natural healing mechanisms. There is great joy in knowing that through body-awareness, we can experience a coming home…..creating space to notice our body patterns and limiting movements. In this workshop we will explore specific acu points that are stuck or held armouring points in our bodies, witness our inner experience thru mindful meditation, alert the witness in us to form deeper awareness of our inner structure and how it affects our body-mind development. We will also, explore how the gentle release of the correct acu-points stimulates the gradual uncovering of submerged feelings which have been frozen into chronically tense or armoured muscular and/or organ areas. |
Journeying thru the Five ElementsIntroducing Traditional Chinese Medicine as an energetic model, based on principles of non-violence, daoist understandings of the unity of self and nature, body-mind holism, Shen (inner self) inner wisdom, energy and awareness as one. This theory contains a detailed and sophisticated understanding of the body-mind connection and offers a "blueprint" for psychosomatic transformation and spiritual growth. The ancient originators of the acupuncture paradigm regarded the body as an informational force-field, which if read carefully, provides a "map" toward body-mind integrity. We will explore these five archetypes and how they create excesses and deficiencies in our bodies and how these archetypes are a doorway into the unconscious or repressed experiences, images, memories and feelings. Thru understanding the elements, we can tap into where we are stuck and explore an opening to Self. |
Making the Mindbody Connection"Mindfulness is a place of deep knowing." In this workshop, we will introduce the concept of "awareness" from a bodymind level by evoking a mindful state. Awareness is the capacity beyond the mind that can observe both thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Here, you will begin to use breath and intention to help you first identify self limiting beliefs and how to move thru them. The objective of this experience is to study the "Self" and create space in the mind, in a reflective, nonjudgemental way. Dr. Mari Richko is a licensed psychotherapist and certified shiatsu practitioner, graduate of the International Ohashi Institute, touch for peace and she is a Naturopathic Doctor. Tranforming Earth: the elements and eating disordersWhat is the element Earth? What is it's purpose? Being "grounded" is an existential experience of who we are in relationship to the Earth that is balanced and stable among the force of the world. As a pathology, it can be destructive and show up around issues with eating and nourishment. In fact, whatever has to do with intake of nourishment or the process of nourishment must be connected with this element. Explore how Chinese Medicine helps us to understand this powerful force thru lecture, art, discussion and movement exercises. Participants will connect with their Earth Element and explore openings to anchoring in the clearest, strongest, healthiest parts of themselves. |
